Chipstead U13 edge Richmond

Coach Andy had expressed to the team prior to the game how the defeat at kings on 11th Dec had ruined his Xmas festivities and expected all the boys to roll their sleeves up against a side we had never beaten!!.

Back to full strength after a number of injuries to key players, Chipstead dominated the first 15 minutes against a disciplined Richmond side which moved the ball very quickly through the backs.

Although the Chipstead forwards were considerably bigger, the Richmond scrum was tighter winning all their put ins and about 50% against the head. However when we won ball and with much encouragement from the expectant crowd, we did manage to get it out to our backs, who met much resilience from Richmond.

70% of the second half was spent in the Richmond half however we were unable to convert possession into points.
Although the second half produced some hard entertaining rugby from both sides, the half time score of 7-5 remained unchanged at the final whistle.

A good few lessons learnt by some today, regarding support , communication( lack of), fitness and agility around the pitch ( lack of ), however I think all the players enjoyed themselves and played the Chipstead way. Great effort from all.
