On a bright sunny spring day Chipstead again continued their winning streak on the road against Old Guildfordians. The pitch was huge however not in great shape through the middle and generally heavy all round.

Old Guildfordians kicked off and the ball quickly received and cycled along the attacking line with Juai Charles breaking through to score in 31 seconds! What a start – simple clean rugby. Tommy Clark was unlucky to skew the conversion attempt wide. The game was played in the Old Guildfordians half as Chipstead pressed and were rucking well. This persistent pressure created 2 more tries for Juai Charles, Tommy Clark unable to convert – the new boots not on form this week. Half time arrived at 15 nil to Chipstead.
Chipstead kicked off slightly down hill, with Old Guildfordians making more of a game of it, however Juai Charles was again too strong and quick down the wing and scored again. The game began to become scrappy, with scrums proving difficult to keep straight and the referee keen to ensure the packs remained straight. Having continued to ebb and flow the Chipstead forwards secured the ball and finally Kwesi Winney was released to sprint and dance down the wing to score – at last Tommy’s boots woke up and converted. The team played well however not enough passing and too many solo runs meant the score could have been much higher.

The Costa five were grateful to the Banstead Plumber for recovering a no Costa situation to deliver a super Nero coffee – the Nero numpties enjoying an unusually hot tasty brew.!
