There were high expectations going into the fourth game of the season for the Chips , having won their previous 3 games .The Meads was as usual a tad muddy and the weather overcast.
Chobham kicked off but within the first 6minutes our prolific scorer Juai scored our first try with solid work from the forwards.The conversion just out of reach for Tommy.This was quickly followed by a break away try by Juai with Eoin giving good chase and support. A successful conversion from Tommy followed. Chobam rallied and had solid well worked scrum giving our forwards a hard time especially in the Rucks.With some great defending and counter attacking Niam created space and Eoin took advantage to sprint down the wing to score a great try. Chobam continued to push forward eventually scoring a try in our far corner, our great defence finally broken. The chips continued to defend and worked well as a team, with Mihal relentless in his tackling and the hard work paid off as Kwesi flew down the wing( in a straight line!)to score another great try.
Second half and the chips kicked off , Chobham remaining committed and well organised and kept us on our toes.With much of the game in our half Juai intercepted a Chohbam pass and scored another great try with Niam successful in the conversion. Our captain Alfie lead from the front throughout the game and constantly punched holes in the Chobham line, which eventually paid off scoring a great try. He also showed off some Gymnastic skills with a perfectly executed front roll!. At last the referee Paul Hutton who had been great throughout the game blew the whistle. Final score 34/5 to the Chips. The game was not as one sided as the score may suggest. Everyone of our lads played a pivotal part in the game showing growing maturity. Long may it continue. Well done the Chips.
Mihal was deservedly voted Man of the Match and Alfie voted Man of Match by the Chobham team.
