If you are interested in playing Rugby at a friendly local club and you are going into year 10 at school then Chipstead U15s (The "Exiles") is the team for you.
[*A player’s age grade is determined by their age at midnight on 31st August at the beginning of each Season and that age grade applies for the whole season]
For 2016-2017 we are looking to continue the successes of last season where we secured top spot in Surrey's highly competitive League 2.
This season the "Exiles" elected to remain in League 2 and we also have a number of friendlies organised against teams in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
So what makes the “Exiles” special?
The "Exiles" have a clear 'One-Squad' mind-set. All players in the Exiles are equal and their selection is solely based on ability and attitude.
Our ethos is quite simple: To be a success on (and off) the pitch you have to be respected and to be respected you have to be respectful in return.
We aim to make training and competition as enjoyable as possible. From enjoyment comes enthusiasm. From enthusiasm comes commitment. From commitment comes success.
Rugby is a physical game; discipline during training and in competition is fundamental. We aim to instil this ethos across the squad.
Lombardian ethics (“A win at any cost”) are not, and never will be what the “Exiles” are about. From our perspective it very much matters how the Exiles play, how we win and how we learn to accept defeat.
There are three types of player. The first makes things happen; the second lets things happen, and the third says, '"What just happened?"
On the pitch, the answer to what kind of player you are will be evident in your performance. Are you continually on the alert for the unexpected? Are you able to exploit opportunities when they come? Are you able to counter the actions of the opposition? If you can answer yes to all three then you are a Team player who makes things happen.
