High flying Camberley just get over the line vs Chips

Cam came down to the Surrey Hills high on confidence after a string of wins that sees them sit just underneath the Ironsides, whereas Chips are still fighting their way out of relegation. Cam is looking to bounce back up to the London leagues as they enjoy surreys teams for the first time in their history. After the visitors win against chips earlier in the season which was complete after a well worked backline really helped out their pack that was crumpling at the seams.

This time round there was obviously Chipsteads now famous hills that play havoc with many even the chipstead backline. Camberley had obviously learnt their lessons from last time and their weight in the front row had considerably increased. Cam got on the board first with a quick tap that chipstead defended well until an overlap let their captain score in the corner. Conversion missed.
The VP lunch was held and so there was lots of encouragement from the crowds just as it was at Watchetts Lane. I must mention from feedback from the VP's was that Camberley representatives that sat down for lunch was that they were a credit to the club and very well behaved. Although that was slightly tarnished by 'one lonely supporter' that offered to fight Hooker Martyn Floodgate as he went to collect the ball for a lineout. It was a game of rugby and there were many personal battles around the field which added to the whole occasion of the game.

Camberley's back row is not one to shy away from as they are equally impressive in the loose with ball in hand as they are at hard tackling defence. Cam kept knocking on the door and there just reward when again another overlap let their winger in for the first of his hat-trick. Again the kicker missed. Chips finally got a foot in the game when they got a lineout just inside cams 22. A training ground moved worked to perfection with Club Captain Alex Cannon taking 3 defenders over the line. Kieran Dupe playing at 6 was yellow carded for team offences. Nothing more to report until half time.

Cam started the second half strongly and got a try by the useful winger. Funnily enough the kicker missed.
The only team to get marched back for gobbing off and dissent was Camberley and that was courtesy of their no1. Their winger got his hat-trick try after good passage of play by their loose forwards and that sealed their bonus point. With the wind and his weird kicking technique the conversion was missed again.
Chipstead were then back down to 14 when Nathan Wood-Thatcher was caught one too many times offside and saw a yellow from the referee yellow carded.
This surprisingly brought chips back into the game and they had the best of the last 20 minutes. Kieran and his opposite number received yellows for a bit of grappling, on asking of the ref whether he had seen it he answered no but there is no game without a ref so his word is final. So Kieran was red-carded the ref was kindly reminded by the cam captain that he had already been yellow carded. There was still time for the Cam No8 to be yellow carded as well for pushing a player trying to take a quick tap. A strong performance by the young chips but was not enough to stop cam on their roll. We wish them all the best and good luck witheir promotion chase.

So there it is the real match report and funnily enough as I was playing and actually saw and heard what the ref had to say it is astounding how wrong a particular person can be from the opposition, I feel his match report was just a bit of jest but was factually wrong in all senses maybe he had one too many London prides, it was a great game of rugby which Camberley deservingly won however a ill-disciplined chips it was far from. Maybe Roger Berry should learn how to use the RFU core values correctly mainly RESPECT & SPORTSMANSHIP.
# their supporter whom I’m sure will be dealt with appropriately by the club especially as the RFU is hot on the touchlines being silent at the moment.
