disappointed in players availability but youngsters step up and commit

To our last scheduled club xv game before both teams have there final friendliest before the season starts and even though we had 23 players there was players drop out galore from both the ones and twos and the team was seriously bolstered by the under21s. We are a family club so I suppose when your dad can't play nor do their sons (tbf one did play and had already played that morning) but others just severe lack of commitment to your supposed mates. We were up against semi-pro National one promotional hopefuls Richmond it was there 4ths but they are still very much apart of the proper setup. Even though they are the bottom team if the club they have some good players and are helped with physiods and filming of the game to help them improve individually and as a team.

Chipstead had a good warmup with coach Bushy who this week had paper to go with his pen and clipboard and he even jotted down stuff including the scorers.
So the game started with new players playing in different positions and with only Forrest, Simmons and Hallam the only ones over the age of 24 it was very much a ugly babyfaced team. Richmond train frequently at least two times a week and you can tell but they weren't as good as was expected and if we hadn't gifted them certain scores and crucial times it could of been a lot closer. We were very solid in the scrum with no actually recognised props but Ryan as has done last year and this stepped in and was joined by Matt Barretta. We lost James our number 8 quite early on with a dead leg he certainly isn't no 'Mann'. Forrest gifted them a try with tinsel wrapped on it when he passed 20 metres across our 22 to the Richmond centre who happily accepted it to score under the posts. Elbrow knocked on at our own 5m line after a scrum which they acceptingly picked up and scored. Also Captain for the day Ryan Dupe wasn't exempt and his box kick was thankfully accepted by their winger and he ran 40 metres before another phase allowed them to score in the corner with numbers stretched.
So with the more senior players making mistakes it was up to the youngsters to clean up their mess. Sam Wright made his first senior start and won a couple of turnovers. josh Driver and Reece Webb made crucial yards and tackles. Tom' feed the goat and he will score' Goater lived up to his name and with great forwards and back play raced away to score his first senior try. But defiantly man of the match was Tom Hawgood who punched way above his 3 stone weight and tackled everything that came his way excellent game from the youngster.

Hopefully the injury to Boris isn't as serious as he like to make out but hey he just wants the ladies attention that obviously his bed buddy Coach Bushy is getting . Oh wait he isn't.

So nice platform for our first away games for both teams against another national league club Barnes so can we confirm to either myself,Alex cannon or Matt Staunton .
