Chips Dominate Cats

This week chips u12 travelled to Old Cats for our first competitive game against Old Cats. The session started with game specific drills where both old cats and chips displayed impressive skills and core values. Following this we broke off into our teams to prep for the game.

Chips stared strongly scoring 3 quick tries where all players supported each other and showed impressive skills keeping the ball alive. at the break it was 7 tries to one. To avoid the Old Cats players becoming demoralized, chips offered one of most dangerous players to even things up. Chips continued to dominate scoring another 2 tries through a fantastic turn over by Thomas Ashley on our line and Jake Phelps-Gardiner fixing the defense with a fantastically delayed and measured pass to Joseph Blake who left 2 players in his wake. The score is now 9 tries to 1. Cats utilize Ronan and get him into space with only 1 player to beat, Ronan with great footwork steps and score the try now 9 to 2. Chips sensing that time was running out wanted some more tries, Harrison De'antiquis took the ball on and beats 3 players, before the ruck can be formed Liam Fitzgerald picks up the ball, steps 3 players and crosses the line now 10 to 2. Old Cats play the ball tight to their biggest player who sits down 2 chips players, this has created the space they needed to push the ball wide and score in the corner, a well deserved try. Now 10 to 3. Chips choose to receive the ball, the ball goes direct to Max Agrippa who gladly runs the ball back at them, he offloads out of the tackle to Jake who pushes the ball wide to Finn who gladly steps one player and beats the second with a well timed hand off.

The game is finished 11 tries to 3 or 55 to 15. All parents and coaches are very proud of the work this team got through today. These players are the future of Chipstead RFC and they will pose some very big questions when they get to senior level.
