Final Score

Cobham 22 – Chipstead 45

On a clear cold crisp day Chipstead got to play on one of the best pitches/grounds we have played on all season. The pitch was perfect and conditions lent themselves to an open flowing game of rugby, although kicking would prove difficult with the swirling wind.

Chipstead kicked off with Mihal Saladziaz as captain and were delivered a bit of a shock as Cobham received, recycled the ball through a couple of phases and broke through for a try in under a minute straight under the posts. The boys rallied and went back to the hard work of rucking and mauling with Andrew K(Kisembo?) ripping every ball. Within 3 minutes Juai Charles broke free to score a great try ably converted with the new boots of Tommy Clark.
Cobham are well organized and quick on the defensive team and Chipstead forwards were under persistent pressure. With the ball moving from one wing to the other Eoin McDermott sprinted free to score a great try after 10 minutes. Again Tommy Clark ably converted and the new boots look like a great investment.
Cobham continued to press and displayed some fantastic forward play, with a solid scrum and good interplay between fronts and backs. This led to a try at the 15-minute mark. The game was evenly balanced.
Alfie Evans continued to try and punch holes in the Cobham defense and supported with good work from Andrew and the other forwards Juai was again released to score a further try for Chipstead. This time with the wind against him Tommy Clark was unable to convert.

After half time the game ebbed and flowed with Cobham again demonstrating some fantastic forward work. However from the restart the Chipstead forwards did great work and Alfie Evans was able to punch through to score a well-deserved try. Tommy again converted off the upright and the match began to swing to Chipstead. With 35 minutes on the clock Alfie Evans broke free and sprinted down the centre of the pitch to score a great individual try with Tommy Clark again converting to take the game away from Cobham.
Not to be out done, Cobham continued to pressure Chipstead and were rewarded with a great try in the Chipstead defensive corner but with strong winds they were unable to convert. The final play of the game saw Juai Charles score another try, which Tommy Clark converted, final whistle.

A pulsating game, which was tighter than the score line shows, another win for Chipstead and Andrew Kisembo as man of the match.
