First friendly of the season and Chipstead's 22 lads travelled to Wimbledon Warriors
After 2 good home training sessions the coaches were confident of a good showing.
After a lot of hanging around for some pitch space we had a very abbreviated warm up and then kicked off an a very small pitch for 3 20 min periods of Rugby .
It was obvious from the start that the Warriors were up for this match - we were out rucked and out mauled and out fought.
It was only some very good tackling that prevented the scores from racking up.
Too many of the boys seemed asleep - too many handling errors when we had ball in hand cost us in attack.
Despite being outplayed in the first two periods we only conceded 2 tries Warriors choose to punish penalties by Kicking for goal (2 penalties scored)
The third period saw a lot better commitment and passion from the Chipstead boys but again a few small errors made the difference when we attacked.
So final score was
Wimbledon Warriors 18-0 Chipstead
A lot to work on for next week prior to our opening league game
