Chipstead RFC Colts 29 Farnborough RFC B Colts 3
Sunday was the last game of the season for Chipstead Colts and we welcomed
Farnham B Colts to the Meads. Chipstead had a full squad and went about
their warm up in a very businessman like way. Then it was into the changing
room where the players had a pre game talk from Chey Dupe who has played 21
seasons of 1st team rugby at the club.
Captain Gerard led his charges out for the last time. Although conditions
were good it was windy and that affected our game. I'm not sure if nerves
came into it but Chipstead just didn't play as a team, thwarting a number of
scoring opportunities due to white line fever, when all that was required
was the ball being passed out where the space was. Joe slotted over a
penalty and Farnham equalled this. Matt then went over in the corner, in
what was the last play of the half. The second half saw a more controlled
and team game from Chipstead and we were rewarded with tries from Tom G in
the corner, Reece with a barnstorming run up the middle, Harry under the
posts and appropriately Tom B with the last play of the game, together with
a conversions from Joe P and Calum gave us a score of 29-3 and a bonus point
for tries scored.
It was so good to see so many support us and a huge thank you to the parents
for their support throughout the season.
Thanks also for the support from all of the people involved this year First
Aid Nick, you need more practice running the line Nigel, Mick and Mick in
the coaching department, Rob with the IT and Andy and Alan for letting me
loose on your charges, and of Stella for of her support. I would also like
to thank you for the collection and my ticket for the cricket.
But most of all I would like to thank all of the boys, I feel honoured to
have been involved with such a great group of young men and I wish them well
in the future.
Watch out for the league update and dates for your diaries 3rd XV on 14th
March and Under 21's on 3rd April.
Regards
