With another widespread number of changes from last week the players are getting there but there are always going to be issues with understanding how the player's around you will play.
Bec's certainly started brightly and had scored a converted try and a penalty by the time Paul Weston also then limped off after 17 mins.
The pack was once again proving to be dominant in the set piece but are not turning that pressure into tangible gains where clean, quick ball should be the standard for the back-line to play with. After a number of infringements an accumulative yellow card was brandished to Mr Elbrow and that was key in Bec's extending their lead right on half time.
HT Chipstead 0 - 17 Bec Old Boys
Chipstead started the second half much brighter but with the numerical value still in their favour scored a try against the run of play. Back to a full compliment and Mr E asked to make the best of his rest period by slipping in to the back row Chipstead started to string more decisive moves together with Forrest finally dotting down. Jeevo then followed that up with a try himself which he also converted and the fight back started. Unfortunately having given Bec's such a head start the only way back was to play a more elaborate game which ultimately meant Bec's took an interception and scored another for themselves.
Chipstead really started to attack and were rewarded for a long period of pressure when Stewart Driver barrelled over but Liwi was not able to add the extras and the clock ran down.
FT Chipstead 17 - 29 Bec Old Boys
Coach Brian was very pleased with the attitude of the players and losing to an unbeaten Bec's team in itself was no disgrace - It would be a real good progression if we could field an identical team this Saturday in the local derby against Old Walcountians at the ClockHouse pitches.
