Chipstead 2nd XV 25 - Kew Occassionals 70

What another wonderful day - dry, bright, firm track - perfect for running rugby - Roy had even planned a lovely barbecue for the post match meal - what more could we ask for.....

We knew Kew were coming a few numbers light so we were pleased we had a couple of late cry-on's unfortunately they were accompanied by a few cry-off's but with a net gain and able to help the opposition with a couple of extras (Many thanks for Josh Driver & Reece Webb) the game kicked off.
Less than 10 minutes later and four scores down it was obvious that the lack of numbers and playing un-contested scrums just enabled Kew to play with an almost 7's freedom. They had great skills and fitness and were just over-whelming the back line of Chipstead which was featuring 4 senior debutantes ! 3 from the academy - Shuhail, Rupert & Luke and Tom Morse who had been in the junior section but is recently returned to the Meads.
On the rare occasions Chipstead were able to control and set the pace of the game they were able to work their patterns and even managed a number of scores but in reality the Occassionals could, and probably should, of scored more points trying miracle passes when simple hands would of sufficed.
The game was played in good spirit and was excellently refereed by LSFRUR Andre van Zijl.

Chipstead will need to concentrate on the good points, and there were many, and take them into the League campaign starting next week. Training together is the key for understanding of each other, the plays but also increases the fitness levels.
