Chipstead fine tune before next week with a polished second half

With much excitement about the impending RFU Junior Vase National SemiFinal next week in Devon. The boys needed to realise the bread and butter is always a league game and solidifying Surrey 1 Status. As always in what must be one of the toughest leagues in the land 10th to 4th is achievable with a bonus point win. Securing the 5 points was a must. After our last league outing was a shocking home defeat to Freemans the boys needed to be alert. Some would say our old foes Law Society was exactly the ticket we needed big forwards, troubling us in the scrum and backs that could test our 'All for one,one for all' defence which even after shipping 2 tries this week both were out wide and not through the terrier defence.

A thorough warm up by coach Wrighty the forwards were quiet but largely focuses and quietly confident on their abilities as individuals and as a one. The backs patterns of play and the systems we have brought in this year under player coach Tommy Nicholls has been a major strength and the more we play the stronger they become.

And so on to the game a shocking started gifted the purple Bergens with 2 penalty chances, one shanked in front of the posts the other taken by Prince Gristle to take an early lead. a try by Guy Diamond -Conor Bracken who is starting to show why the club plucked him from rugby ousterity in Surrey 4 Raynes Park to make him the 'Jamie Vardy' of rugby. Duly converted by Princess Poppy of Paris. He has found his high heels And slotted a penalty and a wonderfully worked Drop Goal to prove the art is not dead.it was fantastic build up play by DJ Suki (Mann),Moxie(Gibson),Aspen(Mason) and Mandy(Lock)The thing about this team is that when someone slots out another slots in due to them all knowing the style of plan and the patterns. Bridget Burgen was sent to the naughty step for not rolling away. A real squad effort 1-18 was on display in Bergen Village, which held brilliantly underfoot well done to the cloud for making daddy happy. After some silly errors and good play by the 'Ass's' they scored out wide to make it 13-11 to the royal blue&golds at the oranges.

Some honest truths in the half time circle by grumpy Branch Troll the team came out with purpose and intent with every attack. Tries were shared amongst forwards and back with Satin and Shanille (Dupe) brothers getting one each. Mr.Dinkles {Jelley} used his size to Burrough over for one and Captain Commando Starfunkle getting in on the act. Biggie (Jeevo) came off the bench and made a barnstorming wobble to the line for a grand total of a centimetre made still a positive impact though. Cooper (Holah) used his giraffe like legs more than once to stride away and a couple of pirouettes to boot. Fuzzboot (Tom.H) came on with his fresh legs and dismantled the scrum after King Peppy (small) had weakened there front row defences. 2 penalty tries credited to the whole 8 was a testament to this small but hard working back that never backs down in all aspects of the game. Creek (Bush) moved to 10 and showed he can play there and led from the front in the backs. Law never gave up and Chef Bergen got a well worked try in the corner again with the conversion missed.

It was an excellently refed game by the official and was played in a brilliant spirit. And you can't have an outstanding game without an opposition, ref and wonderful supporters who come and watch us and cheer us on. We hope we gave you something to shout about.

Final score Blue and Yellow Trolls 58- 16 Black and Purple Bergens.

So we move on to next week and hopefully another trolltastic performance and we can have our 'Hair Up' for Twickenham.
