Sunday 15th October saw over 400 rugby players descend upon The Meads at Chipstead for the annual Mini Rugby Festival.

Clubs represented were Old Whitgiftians, Old Caterhamians, Effingham & Leatherhead , Old Beccahamians , Old Allyenians and of course Chipstead RFC.
The boys and girls ranged in age from 7 to 11 and luckily enjoyed great weather that promoted fast running rugby.
As with all mini rugby festivals organized under the RFU guidelines the emphasis was on participation and having fun. Each squad played a minimum of 4 matches so plenty of opportunities for the players to impress the crowds of spectators.

Chipstead RFC would like to thank all the players, coaches, referees and spectators who made this a wonderful occasion. Thanks also to RAM Rugby for supplying the balls St Johns Ambulance for the medical cover and DE Photo who were busy all day taking action shots of the players.

Alan Webb – President of Chipstead RFC said β€œIt was wonderful to see so many young boys and girls enjoying themselves playing rugby at Chipstead , these players are the future of the game not only for Chipstead but for all the clubs involved, It is fantastic that we are able to host a festival like this and I would like to thank all the club volunteers who made this day possible.”

Chipstead Rugby Club has teams from ages 6 to seniors. Mini and Juniors (up to 18) play on a Sunday and the seniors play on a Saturday – everyone is welcome
